Chapter Recruitment

Open House Round

To kick off formal recruitment, Potential New Members will watch a video made by each sorority on campus for the first day of recruitment. This will allow them to get to know each individual sorority by learning more about the history, values, and culture of each chapter.

Philanthropy Round

Potential New Members will attend sorority houses over the course of three days to learn about their specific philanthropy. Girls are able to learn more about each sorority and see how important community service is to the Greek community here at The University of Alabama. Kappa’s national Philanthropy is the JED Foundation! However, we also partner with a variety of local philanthropies, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama!

Sisterhood Round

Sisterhood Round is divided into three days of recruitment as well. These days are set aside to focus on the specific values of each sorority. Here, Potential New Members will be able to talk with actives about their sorority's values, and learn more about the different personalities of each sorority.

Preference Round

Potential New Members return to up to two of their top selected houses on the final day of recruitment. This day is the time for the PNM to evaluate her top choices and figure out where she feels most at home. Typically, active members will share how their specific chapter influenced their decision, what their sorority means to her, and their sorority's ideals of sisterhood.

Bid Day

You made it!! After meeting at Bryant-Denny Stadium, everyone will open her bid card and group together with their new pledge class! Girls will then run to their new sorority house to meet their new pledge class and sorority sisters!

Tips for Recruitment

- Be yourself. The girls are looking forward to getting to know YOU, pick the chapter that best matches your personality, don’t try to match theirs.

- Keep an open mind. Dismiss the stereotypes and form your own opinions about chapters and Greek Life in general.

- Get to know the chapters. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

- Look for the place you feel most comfortable!

- Have fun!
