Chapter Philanthropy

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama

The Gamma Pi chapter is partnered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama organization as our local philanthropy initiative!

The Krispy Kreme Challenge is an event in Tuscaloosa held by one of our local philanthropies Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama. The event is full of different teams who start at a finish line, run one mile, pick up a dozen doughnuts, eat a dozen doughnuts, and run back to the finish line. There are a lot of fun awards and prizes for all the competitors. This year, the Kappas had the most attendees from all of the Fraternity & Sorority life at the University. Everyone enjoyed the event by getting their faces painted, eating donuts, and enjoying each other’s company!

Reading Is Key

A few times a year, members of our chapter are given the opportunity to participate in Reading Is Key events! A typical Reading Is Key event would involve a group of members visiting a local Tuscaloosa elementary school, getting to spend one on one time with children of various ages and backgrounds. Activities can range anywhere from reading a book to a student, to helping them complete a coloring page or craft. Being able to give back to the youth of the Tuscaloosa community is something near and dear to our members hearts!
