Chapter Philanthropy

Kappa Karnival is an annual event to benefit the children of Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama. The Karnival features fun activities for the children such as pumpkin painting, face painting, ring toss, and many more.

Accompanying the Kappa Karnival is an annual book drive. Each house is given a large bin to see who can collect the most books, and the house that wins will receive $1,000 to go towards their philanthropy. In total, the chapter collected over 2,100 books last year and each child who attended Kappa Karnival was able to go home with several books!

The Krispy Kreme Challenge is an event in Tuscaloosa held by one of our local philanthropies Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama. The event is full of different teams who start at a finish line, run one mile, pick up a dozen doughnuts, eat a dozen doughnuts, and run back to the finish line. There are a lot of fun awards and prizes for all the competitors.

This year, the Kappas had the most attendees from all of the Fraternity & Sorority life at the University. Everyone enjoyed the event by getting their faces painted, eating donuts, and enjoying each other’s company!

Through our partnership with Bright Minds Reading Program, we send Kappas into schools for an hour each week to read with school children. Our members love the hands-on philanthropy experience, specifically the impact we can have on children from reading a book with them.
