Chapter Philanthropy

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama

The Gamma Pi chapter is partnered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama organization as our local philanthropy initiative!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama provides mentoring services to help youth who face some type of adversity beat the odds with the support of volunteer mentors. Throughout the year, we host many successful fundraising events to support BBBS, including our "Kappa Kourts" pickleball tournament, which we held this past March! We also held "Kappa Karnival" this spring, an event in which our members got to engage one-on-one with children enrolled in the BBBS program thorough carnival-themed games and activities. In addition, many of our members volunteer with the BBBS program in their free time, serving as mentors to the local children they are paired with.

KRISPY KREME CHALLENGE

The Krispy Kreme Challenge is an event in Tuscaloosa held by our local philanthropy, Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama. The event is for anyone in the Tuscaloosa community. To goal of the challenge is to run one mile, pick up a dozen doughnuts, eat a dozen doughnuts, and run back to the finish line. There are a lot of fun awards and prizes for all the competitors. This year, the Kappas had the most attendees out of all the fraternities and sororities at the University. Everyone really enjoys the event itself and the activities that go along with the challenge, such as getting faces painted, eating donuts, catching up with friends, and of course, seeing Big Al!
